OFF-LINE ROBOT PATH PLANNING the robot is able to execute a cycle without the operator has to teach the trajectory point by point with the robot teach pendant. To build this profile, the operator has to move a digitizer (similar to a pen) along the profile and select the number of points of the trajectory. The digitizer has an encoder for each axis so that the pc knows the position XYZ of the tip of the digitizer. A powerfull software that runs in the pc, calculates the angles for each detected point and extracts the most significative points. This software builds the trajectory in an intelligent way: where the profile has curves it concentrates more points, and where there are no curves only a few points (with robot linear movement) are enough. Once the pc has transmitted the profile to the robot, the robot can execute the cycle (i.e. it can apply adhesive, paint and so on)
